Aurora/Monogram Prehistoric Scenes Flying Reptile aka Pteranodon

Another one that isn't actually a dinosaur it is the dreaded Pteranodon the most famed of the prehistoric flying reptiles. I believe these were from the Cretaceous period which is the final period of the dinosaurs. So they were around when most of the best known dinosaurs were around.
This model is actually two different models. I have one on the base which is a Monogram base. Monogram bought the molds from Aurora in the late 70s. The Pteranodon on the base has the torn wing. The kit came with two wings. And the flying Pteranodon has the intact wing. As seen in photo 4 there is a hook so Pteranodon can fly. They were probably dark on top and light on the underside but I painted them red. That always seems to be the right color to me.
