Somehow this piece was left in the garage in a storage tote. Out of sight out of mind as they say. It's large and heavy and someone took a drill to the bottom unfortunately, either for changing the fish water or for plant drainage. Problem is it doesn't look like plants were ever in it . Too clean and no staining or calcification from watering and soil. It's an unmarked piece with pairs of ducks and water lilies repeating against a black background. Goldfish swim around the interior with aquatic plants. Lots of iron spots showing through on the interior and rim. So it may be old or not. Pictures make it look taller and narrower than it really is. Probably because I tipped it on it's side to take them. -Mike-

Not sure if this description is accurate? Could also be chinese export? I'm sure Waki will be along to tell us eventually.

I checked your link Dave. Somehow I think mine is nicer in terms of painting and colors, but it is very close :)

i exaggerate big time generally you are out in a second if the familli noir is shiny, we need the less shiny noir of the guangxu and we get saved by the bell in the kangi (
darkgreen color, refinement design ( petrified rock-wood), diaper rim or macorimi rim etc

we can fake , the swriling polycrome garlands , they probably tried , because the garlands got elevant got elevation , but the tonality is , and we got no strokung in the observe

i don,t know precisely what is going obverse , because we lack stroking and we lack splashing
what is it a presse trough , transfer , an guidehand coloring, i don,t know i think its a very well decal presse through

you might think it sucks , well IMO it aint , better a good chinoiserie than a bad originial

there is a major difference in quality beween the piece of dave and EBAY and MIKELVEN piece ( you need a databank probably)

M photo 2 the waterlily gives a depth effect or maybe there is deptheffect and not a scrivere effect (sketsky)

M1 photo 1 flower , they different shaped the coloors and make it slide to the knot maybe also caused by the cognitivee effect of pointillisme, or somithing like causing effect

well that is not the easy out if it is an possible press trough decal, actually FANTASTIC

What happenede to the trafficlight borde obverse is unexplainable, but is a pity

reverse garlands is ok , we are in early PROC , thats normal, what happened to the fish i don,t , strange , it almost looks like an application , or the maker lost its glasses

IMO there is no reason to downgrade this, people don,t the possible deficit in the traffic lights border, the but of the flower is an RELIEF and the lack of angularity in the design, is well done

So IMO you got a lot of compensation here

pricesely i don,t know how to date , probably 1 of the precursors of the mid PROC pieces , something like early 1960 instea of 1970 ties

Thanks apostata. I didn't think it would make me rich. :)

well money is important , but the perception of quality differences and beauty is even more important

Yes you are right. The little flambe bottle vase I posted maybe that's a winner ? It sure is eye catching if nothing else. :)
