I always like to pick up the high quality toy dinosaurs when I see them. This one I picked up in San Luis Obispo. Not sure if I would call it a toy or a model perhaps a bit of both. This was made by Scheich which I believe is a German company. This one is about 7" long.
Gastonia was a medium sized ankylosaur from the early Cretaceous period. The late Cretaceous period gets all the attention along with some from the Jurassic. The early Cretaceous dinos were a bit smaller than their more well known counterparts. This one was about 15 feet long and weighed close to 2 tons.
Now one thing that seems to be cliche for dinos is that the herbivores were all peaceful. With current day large mammals that does not seem to be the case. Hippos kill more people in Africa than any other mammals and elephants and rhinos are not safe to pet in the wild. Gastonia has what looks like a passive defense but the raptors had best not get to close to that tail.

Schliech makes wonderful things. I remember our local Toys R Us carried their line. Oddly enough our Tractor Supply carries a lot of the dinos. :)

I saw a meme the other day which was true, and tragic:
"Why doesn't anyone ask adults what their favourite dinosaur is?"

      What's yours Fort?
      Mine is Ankylosaurus!!

My favorite is the Pegomastax africanus.
He's about the size of a cat so he would have made a good cave pet.
