This post is for post - punk/gothic icon Siouxsie Sioux, who turns 66 today (born May 27 1957). She is currently on tour as a solo artist for the first time in 10 years...sadly no gigs in Australia...
Siouxsie & the Banshees is one of my favourite bands & this is my small collection of Siouxsie related memorabilia...it is quite hard to find but I'm hoping to find more!
Photo 1 - I've just posted a new addition to my collection, this very cool vintage Siouxsie t - shirt by Mosquitohead. This was a super lucky bargain find on eBay AU. After buying it I found another listed on eBay US for $849.95 (approximately AU $1260.00). That one is in worn used condition, whereas mine is perfect, & looks unworn (cost AU $29.00). Shirt dates from the 1990s. Interesting that is is screenprinted inside & out - what looks like a pale pink rising sun design behind Siouxsie is actually printed in bright red on the inside of the shirt. I must say I'm slightly nervous about wearing/washing now!
Photo 2 - This is most of the Banshees albums on CD plus a couple of Siouxsie's side projects, including The Creatures 1999 album Anima Animus, & her only solo album so far, 2007's Mantaray.
Photo 3 - Some bands/artists have a plethora of books devoted to them, but Siouxsie & the Banshees are an exception to the rule...I'm lucky to have found most of the few publications available. From left, "Peepshow", from 2019 which covers their 1988 album of that title, "Siousxie & the Banshees Photo Book" from 1986 which is extremely rare...I was thrilled to find a copy on eBay AU for a reasonable price. "Siouxsie & the Banshees the Early Years" was published 2023 & details the beginning of the band's career, & finally, "Siouxsie & the Banshees, the Definitive Biography" by Mark Paytress, published 2003. This is very sought after & sells for big prices when it turns up.
Photo 4 - Siouxsie t - shirts are not that hard to find, but this one is a bit different. It is by English designer Neil Barrett, whose designs are strongly influenced by the punk/post - punk aesthetic. This shirt is from his 2017 collection which featured several designs with images of Siouxsie. This shirt is extra cool because she's on both the front & back of the shirt.
Love Siouxie ! I'm partial to Peek-a-Boo , Christine, and Cities in the Dust. :)
Many thanks, mikelv85!
Yes, those are all great songs...she's truly a unique artist with such a distinctive voice, style, & attitude!
IronLace, Happy Birthday to Siouxsie Sioux. :-)
I myself am quite partial to "Halloween."
Thanks also, keramikos!
Yes, Halloween is a favourite of mine, too!
