This watercolor in the mat opening is 10.25" x 13.25", so probably around 11" x 14" under the mat. Signed "Ha......". Stopped at a thrift shop on my way home from hiking and found this for $2. Couldn't say "no". Double matted in an acid free mat and fairly nicely framed. Looks brand new. Double, double checked it with my jewelers loupe and it is definitely a watercolor. I guess it could also be a very nicely done lithograph, but pretty sure it is a watercolor. Sorry for the reflections from the glass.
Looks like a Russian monastery scene, to me, so have been calling it my Russian watercolor... Typically, I do not care signatures by artists which are in a color that is in contrast to the color palette of the painting, but this one does not detract too much from the painting.
Also found a really high quality brace drill for $3. Still looking for some kind of maker's mark on it...
Today was a pretty strenuous hike in 90 degree weather and I did an even more difficult one yesterday so going to forego closer examination of both finds until I recover later tonight. Trying to hike four or five days a week carrying a three day, 20 lb pack, to build back up a bit after some respiratory issues. Think I had RSV but feeling more like myself again..... Managed five days last week, but probably only going to do four days this week.... Trying to make a thrift shop visit most days on my way home after hiking...
Looks a little similar to this..

Thanks for your comment, dav2no1! Something like that, for sure. Once I started looking, I discovered that there are a huge number of old convents and monasteries...
Thanks for loving my Russian convent/ monastery watercolor, mikelv85, Jenni, vcal, dav2no1, fortapache, Vynil33rpm and yougottahavestuff!
I will try to get some better images. I have a little photography tent to get cleaner photos, but it is a pain to use....
Thanks Cisum and Kevin!
You have to take care of yourself, my allergy has played a trick on me too, in these winter days it has affected me for six days, sleeping badly. Hugs
Sorry to hear you are having allergy problems! I have been lucky, so far, this year. I hiked on 8 of the last 11 days and developed a bit of a lower back issue, realizing that I need to revisit the balance of items in the pack and to replace several straps on it that have broken over the years. It is good that I am getting all of that fixed! I also realized that I need to take a fresh look at the contents. I have tried to make it a four season pack so that I don't have to repack it for each season. That is why it is fairly heavy. Good, however, in that it is a good workout to carry it.
Thanks, sherrilou!
