Hi. This clock was given to my grandparents as a wedding gift in 1925.
    I am trying to:
    1) establish its approx age
    2) decide if I should restore it to its original brown colour (as shown on the inside) as I think it is covered in shellac / painted many years ago and has dried out.
    3) carefully take the face pin out holding the hands in? It wont move! Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance
    Tony

I have been advised that is listed as the “X” assortment C from 1914 in Tran Duy Ly's Ansonia clock and watches book published by Arlington Book Co. the base is different but there were several base styles used during that time period.

Personally, I would take it in to an antique clock repair person first and utilize their skills, especially if I didn't know anything about clock repair! As for refinishing it, if you know how to do that and get in the detailed areas without changing their shapes, go for it. Otherwise, leave it all to the pros!
