This small ginger jar is about 6" high x 4" widest diameter. It is marked on the bottom. Based on the Gotheborg web site, this is Chinese, possibly decorated in Hong Kong, but couldn't find this exact mark. Probably 1950s-1990s. For $1 I could not pass it up. It is hand painted and I think the flowers are either hand etched or enameled onto the vase. Not sure which.
Absolutely beautiful ginger jar, the floral pattern is truly exquisite
Thanks, Jenni! It is a color bomb, for sure!
Thanks for loving my jar, fortapache, sherrilou, Falcon61, vcal, Vynil33rpm and Jenni!
I'll agree with Jenni. Nice find !
Try to think logically , you always look for the NON Common DENOMINATOR
so you only got to remember lets say 1 symbol out of 60 during 1640-1910
and that,s the mark right under , with the key in it
so you don,t define it by the fish hook symbol right on type otherwise you could end up by the Guangxhu period and this is a Qianlong Nianzhi mark
this is quite new m this is later then fifties, probably stamped but not rubber stamped, no oneven pressure, no air bubbling, but can,t see well
you probably break even , although it is close lol, cute
Thanks for your comment, mikelv85! Its purty!
That for your comments, Waki! That is really helpful. I was pretty sure it was Nianzhi, but stuck on finding a complete match of the mark. I am satisfied with some eye candy, on this one and it is cheap enough to use without worrying about breaking it.
Thanks for loving my Chinese jar Cisum, mikelv85, dav2no1, Leelani, BHIFOS and Drake47!
Thank you, Tennessee123!
It's a beauty Kevin.
I see ginger jars from time to time but know so little about dating them I wouldn't know what to get.
I would have taken this one because of that gorgeous painting on it
Thanks for your comments, Karen! The color bomb, small size and price decided me on this one. I figured it was probably very new and not worth much but it is a nice little mood lifter.
Thanks for loving my jar, DejaVu2, Blueyecon and clockerman!
Thanks, kivatinitz!
Thanks, Faith.k!
