Spondylus has a 2 part shell like oysters and clams but they are more closely related to scallops. Thus they probably taste good. But they can make pearls. In life they are covered with spines. I think you can see where the spines are attached. I think the shell is about 4"-5" across or around or something like that. I have a cat in my lap so I can't go downstairs to measure it.
Anyway it is a nice colorful shell inside and out. I will need a second one to display it properly. Or I could just turn it over now and then.
These are wonderful and you have a great collection. I used to display mine in the bottom of large plant pots, but usually I just bought oyster shells, separate the top from the bottom and paint them in shell colours. Yours has a more rare pink colour, just love your beauty !~
