This watercolor is 11" high x 14" wide, signed "S. Santanna". I think I paid $1.44 for it at GW.
This is a painting that appeared and disappeared from my local GW a couple of times, probably shipped to another store before making its way back to where I first saw it. It was originally in a crappy, hand cut matte, in a cellophane sleeve. I found a nice frame, with glass and an acid free double matte at GW for $4 which transformed it into a nice piece of art. The original contents of the new frame was a print of a regional church signed by the artist with a lot of data on the dust shield on the back. I put the print behind the still life and used packing tape to secure the three sides of the dust cover that I cut to remove the old artwork. It really turned out nice, which my images do not show too well.
Not been able to find out anything about "S. Santanna", but they are/were a fairly accomplished artist. I really like this painting.
Beautiful fruit still life, the bananas & lemons look positively delicious
