This 2" silvertone brooch has a spinner or pinwheel shape with alexandrite haloed marquise (my favorite style) rhinestones and with a large faceted central clear round stone, all pronged. By Weiss ca 1950s
Definitely a pinwheel and the alexandrite stones are so pretty!! Always nice to see these early 1950's Weiss brooches! :)
Wow you find some great jewellery, Jenni.
This is a beauty and looks new, yet is 70 years old.
So full of light, so beautifully constructed! It's gorgeous. And I really love that the pinwheel has 7 petals. That's a little unusual and makes it even more special!
Such clear and beautiful stones here, super prongs and super beautiful jewel. It is a fantastic piece most people would gravitate to !~
I always love to imagine that they are real diamonds. :)
Thank you for the love everybody

Thank you DejaVu for your wonderful compliments, actually classic Weiss has been on my radar since seeing your lovely piece a few mos ago. What is so great about them is their diversity as with this brooch, always creating something different
Karen it really is amazing that some vintage jewelry has been kept so clean considering its age, probably stored very carefully in a velvet jewel case somewhere. Thank you my friend for your terrific praise
Thanks so much rhineisfine for your lovely compliments & keen eye about the pinwheel petals, good to know! It is definitely unusual & the light catches it at all angles, making it a bit hard to photograph without glare
Phil they are truly beautiful stones & of course from Weiss, carefully prong set - I wish all jewelers did the prongs, but many I love did not, unless the little 'dot' prongs count :) Thanks as ever for your superb praise
Thank you Mike for your awesome compliment & I'm with you, I've got some fine jewelry books (one is of Eliz Taylor's astounding collection) and it always surprises me that the costume counterparts are really well done, the Ciner animal clampers for example. This Weiss brooch has the haloed marquise petals that remind me of royalty, & with its intense sparkle I think I will imagine it's diamonds when I wear it!
Thanks leesa & Thomas for the love for this Weiss brooch, it's so nice of you both and I
I'm very grateful to you
