Above are 4 photos of Lucille M. Bell's leather travel trunk. Lucille Mainwaring Bell was the wife of Lawrence Dale "Larry" Bell (the founder of The Bell Aircraft Company).
The trunk/suitcase is still in working condition. You can see under the hand grip handle the stamped gold letters “L. M. B. - Buffalo, N. Y.” (Lucille Mainwairing Bell – Buffalo, New York).
This piece is approximately 60-80 years old and this type of travel trunk was used heavily for train travel, as well as bus and airplane trips during and after World War Two.
The number of trips/miles or destinations that this case has travelled is unknown but the leather and mechanical features are still in working order.
For more information on other items connected to Mrs. Bell, head to my link below and take a look at some of her finer jewelry! Some of the more exquisite pieces she owned includes a heavily jewel encrusted P-39 Airacobra Brooch / Commendation, a 6.18 Carat diamond and platinum ring, and other fine jewelry!
