I adore the sweet nature of the Hummel characters. I inherited my Nana's & my Mom's Hummel figurine collections but a sibling stole them all.

Hi, AmusedMedley. :-)
That's sad about your Nana's and mother's Hummels. :-(
I helped an old friend identify all of their late mother's Hummels, but they was kind of fearful of having the opposite problem. That is to say, they were afraid that none of the younger generation in the family would want any of them.
Hummels tend to wax and wane in popularity.
I'm kinda running out of steam at the moment, so I'll leave you with a link to the official M. I. Hummel website, which I just noticed isn't secure socket after all the trouble they took to revamp it (eye roll). Oh well, there is still a lot of good information:

Hi Keramikos, thanks so much for taking the time to comment and also for the link. Im looking forward to visiting the site!
AmusedMedley, You're welcome. :-)
Now that I've refueled, more detail on this sketch:

An approximate date can be made of the pictures by the way she signed them. Early pictures are signed Bertl Hummel, B. Hummel or B.H. and sometimes there is no signature. After she changed her name for the Sießen Convent works in 1933, she signed her name M.I. Hummel or just Hummel.
The titles of these two are in German at the bottom and are translated as, “A Bird Came Flying Along” and “I Could Care Less Whether I Have Gold or None.” These two items of artwork possibly were used to create HUM 63 – Singing Lesson by master sculptor Arthur Möeller, HUM 413 – Whistler’s Duet and HUM 69 – Happy Pastime by Arthur Möeller in 1937, HUM 414 – In Tune by master sculptor Gerhard Skrobek in 1979.

So the date of the original of this particular sketch would be pre-1933, because of the signature.
Here's a more readable version of the caption:

Oh wow, thanks for all the comments and for sharing your vast knowledge. It's nice to hear when people have done their homework, so to speak, on topics that can be confusing & complicated as the Hummel saga. Ty again
AmusedMedley, You're welcome. :-)
My knowledge is by no means vast. I was generally aware of Hummels before I helped my friend, but I got a rough and rapid education about them in the process of said help.
It helped me a lot that, at the time, Google eBooks had excerpts from two different editions of one of the best reference books at the time (the hummels.org site was undergoing revamp).
Google eBooks would show excerpts from different pages on different days, so I just had to check back evey day. Good thing I didn't have to document hundreds of Hummel figurines. >8-0
One tidbit that I caught out of the corner of my eye when I added an excerpt from hummel.org was the odd translation of "geld" as "gold." Perhaps those two words are connected in their etymology, but the German word "geld" simply means "money."
AmusedMedley, The reference I used for the most part:
