I bought this today. I have no idea what it is or what its origins are.
It’s a beautiful object. When I saw it at the shop it hadn’t yet been priced. They were trying to figure out what it was, at first I thought it was a primitive duck carving. It measures approximately 9-10 inches long. The wood is very hard and exhibits wear from use.
Any guesses what it might be?

Hi Tony,
It's probably a weaving loom comb. They were used to tighten the weave on the loom before moving on to the next row. The carving style would be a clue to which country it came from. -Mike-

Usually referred to as a " Turkish carpet beater" based on the style, which originated in Turkey, where it was used in the making of woven carpets, to "beat" down the warp to make it more compact on the loom.
