Found at thrift store, paid ten dollars for it. Thought it was unusual because it is silver and not brass encasing top and bottom rim, very dirty, rubbed off grime in one spot on rim, and think itll clean up nicely. Measurements are 7" tall, 4" wide at widest point, and about 2 1/2" across outside rim edge to edge, same for the base. Japan Sato is inscribed in metal base rim, with a star inside a circle in between the two words. From I gather in comments, it's newer and less elaborate than the ones from the 20s and 30s, and a different company as well. Still very pretty aqua-ish green, so it's part of my selective faves. Thanks for all the loves!
The flower design is really lovely, nice find
Sato cloisonnne. There a lot of this on ebay and etsy.
What are the dimensions?
Lovely Japanese cloisonne.
So very pretty!!! You did well on the price! :)
well for a starting collector this is quite an perormance , you can,t expext them to see the diffence between an ANDO Jubei (meijji -Taisho ) or SAtO progressed SHOW period ( the word cloissone is out of the embossing!!!!)
So actually i am rather proud of here( not paternising)the vases are,not much value ,but it does, not matter , it, s worth it
I highly recommend to read the cloisonne ando mark part at this site , to get an idea of the different qualities these type of vases, because we have to step up in knowledge
well done congrats
