De Rosa Ceramic Beaver Figurine
Approximately 3" tall
My sister picked this up for me at a garage sale. It is a ceramic beaver by De Rosa collections made in Uruguay. I believe this is model #71?. The bottom has the AR stamped in the ceramic.
The beaver is well made and has the appearance of a carved wood piece. It even has small wooden looking logs that it's carrying.
BEAVERS
Beavers are the largest rodent in North America. And what defines a rodent? They are mammals with continually growing front incisor teeth. 40% of all mammals are rodents.
Beavers can stay under the water for 15 minutes.
Their lips close behind their teeth allowing them to hold a branch with their teeth, swim under water and not drown.
And they have a set of transparent eyelids that cover their eyes as they swim.
Fantastic beaver he is super cute! Love the Jorge DeRosa animals they're so realistic
Thanks Jenni. I was fooled at first thinking it was carved wood until I handled it. The details are very good, even the realistic color of the wood logs.
The beaver in Canada is one of our important symbols as it represented exploration and the fur trade. It is represented in carvings, postcard decoration, and other items which are symbolized by the beaver including furniture. This item is wonderful as it looks like a carved piece which was skillfully represented in the moulding of pottery.
