Hello All!
I found this today in a most unusual place.
It’s old! Cloth cord, and just a beautiful piece of pottery.
The mark may be clear to someone, and maybe someone will also recognize the label,( the lettering looks German? )
The terra cotta pottery base stands 10 1/2” high,
It measures 23 1/2” to the top of the finial.
Look familiar to anyone?
Any help would be appreciated.
Very nice Tony. My take would be German studio art pottery from the 40's. Has a Bauhaus look. Richard Uhlemeyer comes to mind but there are a few others. If you could get a bead on that embossed mark that might help zero it in. -Mike-
Thank you, Mike. The 40’s would fit. It has a thick cloth covered cord and a European plug, with an adaptor. I love the color, it has a darker shoulder. The harp is flat, the finial straight and plain.
I appreciate the comment, Thank You!
Michael, that was a great tip! I think it’s Karlsruhe pottery, date uncertain. I found pieces from the 20’s, 30’s, up to the 60’s. The label is definitely in an older style. We’ll see!
Thank You!
Very nice celadon green colour !~
Beautiful lamp base.
Yes, the lamp does indeed have the Karlsruhe mark.
The factory was founded in 1901 as Staatliche Majolika Manufaktur Karlsruhe by Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden on the recommendation of two painters and graphic artists Hans Thoma and Wilhelm Süs as a workshop for ceramic artists.
Thank You PhilDMorris and mp.kunst for the comments and
Thanks to all for the looks and loves!
much appreciated!
