MMurphy
(1 item)
Identical in style and construction to the one on the I Love Lucy Show, it served as both a coffee table and a dining/card table for the Ricardo’s and Mertz’s. My table is mahogany while the table used on the show was made of a lighter colored wood.
This table is in great condition and adjustable in height from coffee table to dining table height. It has two drop-leaves which open up to make it a 36’ square. It has two notations: (1) “Pat Pending” and (2) “No: 400 Lot: 76”.
Measurements: Lowered 15.75? high Raised 26 2/3? high Top: Leaves Down 36? x 20? Leaves Up 36? x 36 1/4?
Beautiful piece! I think it’s pretty cool seeing something you own on a TV show … I’ve seen several of my things on Madmen and The Marvellous Miss Maisel. Both are excellent series and a feast to the eyes for mid-century, modern/vintage collectors. John Hamm is not too shabby either. Lol.
MMurphy, Very cool. :-)
I must be slipping in my vintageness, because I hadn't realized that the Ricardos had a convertible coffee/dining table.
I first recall encountering the concept in early 1980s Europe (a tile-topped crank model). I was bowled over by the coolness.
This Lucy fan site covers the Ricardos' table, and even provides a patent link, which I'll break out separately:

Oh Keramikos, you are a master sleuth!
Laurabelle61, Nah, it took me longer to type up the comment than it did to find it using Google.
I was glad that that Lucy website had the patent listing, because that saved me time.
I watched Lucy today( her son’s birthday party where is she dress like superman) I saw your table, very cool!
