It looks like what I call a Memory Jug? They glue things to it to remember things. Other's here may give a better description.

Mike, from American pickers found some bottles folk art like this got me into it
African origin and African Americans often used them at Grave sites in remembering their lives!!

Just saying these Jugs may have started with African origin but others have honored their family members this way. When I was in Vietnam in the sixty's I saw Roadside Memorials for the Dead on the sides of the road. I thought it was strange but now it's Normal here!

yougottahavestuff, I agree, got to come to the ladies sale again, in her garage she has more less a collection of stuff. I assumed it was from her family, but it was probably from her picks.
Wife and I took a Historical tour of Plantation Slave grave sites in South Carolina year's ago.
They had to bury their people at Night as they worked during the day so Spooky stories arose.
And they couldn't be buried on valuable land!!
Memorial Articles were What they could find!!
Toys etc. Ancestors are still being buried there. Saw Vietnam veterans Grave markers were there!! One Old Large Granite Marker was from a Woman that was a must have been a House Maid that was Well Loved but still had to be buried there.
