I got this bird at a hardware store of all places. I like it be the place where I live has a pond with tons of frogs..big ol bullfrogs that make lots of noise. There are birds that resemble this one that come to feast on the frogs. They are magnificent!

I love wood carvings especially animals. I have several bird figures in my collection.

This one reminded me of one I have.. thats a good thing because I found some more information about it..

      Hello dav2no1
The bird i'snt made from wood it's some type of metal, my guess is bronze. Im about to post an elephant I have carved out of wod if you'd like to check it out.

      Hi, AmuzedMess. Cool. :-)

My first reaction on seeing the photo in this post was a recollection of a bird I used to see on my morning commute. I had to pass through a marshy area to get on the highway, and frequently I'd see a large bird standing stock-still in a somewhat odd pose. I suspect it was a heron patiently waiting for some nearby prey to get a little too near for its own good.

This isn't the exact pose I was trying to find (in this one, it looks like the hapless prey has indeed come too close for its own good), but it'll do:

      This one is closer:

Oh ok... its hard to tell from the pictures and you didn't include that information anywhere so I assumed it was wood. You can post up to 4 pictures..it would be nice to see the bottom.

BTW, using the search criteria "heron poised" turned up a lot of interesting poses, e.g.:

      https://gustaviatex.com/blog/2017/6/22/little-blue-heron-or-reddish

Apparently, herons are masters of remaining motionless for long periods of time.

The one I saw was poised on the side of a fairly steep bank, and pointing downward. I couldn't imagine holding a stance like that for very long, but then I'm not a heron.

What does any of it have to do with your scupture? Eh, nothing, other than that it's evocative. };-)

Here's a pose closer to that of your sculpture:
