"View of botanical garden towards the art museum" by Marie Sandholdt 1872-1942

This painting by Danish painter, Marie Sandholt 1872-1942, is 20" high x 23" wide, oil on canvas. I have had this painting for many years, but no place to display it so it was in my storage room. While looking for some art for New House, I pulled this out. I recalled that it was sold to me from a seller in Denmark as by an unknown artist, initials "M.S.", and there it stayed for many years. I decided to post some images on CW so put it in some natural light and clicked away. Images not too good, a light coat of varnish in places contrasted with matte areas which caused glare issues and poor resolution.

The back just showed that it is an old, dark canvas, and I was going to pass on images of the back, but at the last minute decided to get an image and the sunlight revealed a penciled notation, artist name and dates and title. Kool!
