Here is a 3" faceted hexagonal clear & cobalt blue glass paperweight of Scorpio the scorpion (made of white sulphide) from Baccarat's glass zodiac paperweight series that began in the late 1950s. Baccarat round mark on reverse side
Happy birthday CW Scorpio, hoping you all have a fabulous fortuitous year ahead!
How beautiful Jenni!! I have a few paperweights, but no glass.
I always love blue esp darker blues and cobalts. I once had a collection I miss. Gorgeous piece !~
The blue is so intense which is a word that describes me and my fellows Scorpios. My birthday is Halloween then my brother and mom follow on Nov.1 We always had a scary good time !
I really like this. It’s such a beautiful color with a real looking scorpion that brings back fond memories.I went out to throw the football with my son and his friends in an orange grove that was full of scorpions. Those darn things are nasty that will bow up and chase you if you aggravate them.I had thrown my shirt on the ground that a scorpion got in to that gave me a little love tap. That stinger packs 10 x the punch of a bee sting. That was over 30 years ago and I’m still waiting to turn in to the Scorpion King.
Very cool paperweight- I love this a lot! he silver scorpion really stands out on that deep royal blue background. Gives it such an expensive, but villainous look. I imagine a lady villainess or femme fatale character has one of these on her bedside table.
Thanks everyone for the love

Sincere thanks for all your fabulous comments....
Scott, this is a really interesting glass paperweight, & I thought what better time to post a scorpion than around Halloween, scary :)
Phil, the cobalt glass here is very nice & makes the white scorpion stand out. I know too well about missing your old collections, used to horseback ride when younger & had a cute ceramic horse collection back then
Mike happy almost birthday! You probably loved Halloween as a kid, getting all the candy must have felt like extra presents. I absolutely know about Scorpio intensity as my dad was one, & I have Scorpio rising, think it's why I enjoy detective and murder mysteries we're innate investigators :)
Wow JB, you are so lucky that scorpion venom wasn't lethal, yes I know how they chase, I had to trap one that was most likely someone's pet that got loose in an apt we lived in. His back was up as if ready to sting but I kept dumping diomateceous earth powder over him which stunned him & managed to get him into a plastic container. That was one memorable football game!! Lol about the Scorpion King, excellent flick, we always liked The Rock back to his wrestling days
Lauren it is certainly a villainous looking stinger, and would definitely look cool on a femme fatale lady's bedside table, great image! I do think the scorpion sculpture itself is rather elegant and does look pretty in the dark blue glass
Many thanks Deano & Patricia for the kind love for this Scorpio glass paperweight, so pleased that you both liked it and grateful for your consideration
This is a great piece of Baccarat Jenni
Gorgeous cobalt ground and the amazing scorpion packs a punch!
Screams quality
Much thanks Karen my friend for your super praise & love for this Baccarat scorpion, you know it was a hard piece to take pix of cause the clear glass is faceted so it would distort the scorpion at wrong angles, I had to be careful
Thank you ehunt for the love for this Scorpio paperweight, so pleased that you liked it & appreciate your stopping by
Thank you Ted for the love for this Scorpio paperweight, I'm truly glad that you liked it and super grateful for your thoughtfulness
