I picked up this gal at an estate sale. She doesn't appear to be part of a lamp. She has no name or markings I can see. She is very heavy. I don't understand what the circle on her shoulder is for.

I know the figure is JB Hirsch. They used the figures for everything from lamps to sometimes bookends. The circle I know is from their newer late 70's to 1980"s output from their "french bronze" series which was 99% pure zinc or known as spelter. Hirsch went to France to dig up the old foundries floors where the moulds for their statues were hidden during the wars. They only had a few just after the wars ended and some were dug in the 1960's to about 1981. When all were found there were just over 2000 parts they had to fit from the puzzle of parts. The faces are their own Ivorine, which is just dust mixed with glue and not Ivory. I have several of my lamps, some from this series on my page !~
