Lötz: Heliotrope, 1890, PN 89/LB/23

I bought this vase as a pair with a fellow collector. It was made for the Parisian luxury shop L. Boutigny. From around 1890 this company specialized in the sale of Bohemian glass.
It had its own designs made and was a customer of the Lötz company until 1905 (Lötz Series II, Lnenickova). Only one of the vases bears the designation 1/4, this decor was produced in several variants. In the list of cuts (Lötz Volume 2) it is marked 1/4 rich. On the collage you can see the vase before cleaning. The name "Heliotrope" most likely goes back to the Andean vanilla flower (Heliotropium arborescens) with its dark purple flowers. The colored stone of the same name is out of the question because it is green and has red speckles.

Lötz: Heliotrop, 1890, PN 89/LB/23

Diese Vase habe ich als Paar zusammen mit einem Sammlerkollegen erworben. Sie wurde für das Pariser Luxusgeschäft L. Boutigny hergestellt. Ab zirka 1890 spezialisierte sich dieses Unternehmen auf den Verkauf von böhmischem Glas.
Es ließ eigene Entwürfe herstellen und war bis 1905 Kunde der Firma Lötz (Lötz Serie II, Lnenickova). Nur eine der Vasen trägt die Bezeichnung 1/4, dieses Dekor wurde in mehreren Varianten hergestellt. Im Schnittverzeichnis (Lötz Band 2) ist es mit 1/4 reich bezeichnet. Auf der Collage können Sie die Vase vor der Reinigung sehen. Sehr wahrscheinlich geht der Name "Heliotrop" auf die aus den Anden stammende Vanilleblume (Heliotropium arborescens) mit ihren dunkelila Blüten zurück. Der Farbstein gleichen Namens kommt nicht in Frage, da dieser grün ist und rote Sprenkel aufweist.
