This item is in BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! condition, it's faded, there's a pretty good sized hole on the side of his head and there's also a brown line on the side of his head and there's dirt stains on him, there's also a bunch of lines all over his back and there's cracks on his toes and he's missing his lid and his front and back sticker. I got him from an abandoned house under a stick pile. The manufacturer is Alpo?

Google Lens turned up some in good condition. The etsy one has a picture of the bottom where you can read the embossed trademark information that looks like 1978 and 1981 for United Features Syndicate, so presumably this is why some of these online listings are dating the containers to 1981:
