Great find in a jewelry scrap bag today. Among other miscellaneous gold and silver pieces this piece caught my eye. Made in 14KT yellow gold, and this beautiful Fire Opal cabochon. With a great play of colors. With an orange/red transparency, it will shine all colors of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and even violet/purple. It measures 12.1mm long x 7.9mm wide. I’m not sure if it’s a high quality Opal, or the country of origin. All I do know is it’s unmarked yellow gold (acid tested) and it has a nice sized piece of Opal set in place.
Any Opal experts out there?
