This image was captured at Steamtown NHS in May 2023. This Big Boy is one of the largest and powerful engines in the world. This is not currently operable, but the staff does a good job in cosmetically maintaining it. The moving parts are oiled to prevent them from seizing up, s the Park likes to move the displays around.

It is doubtful that the X-4012 will run again, as it needs work , and even if operable, the curves around Scranton are too tight for the engine to run on.
