These tiny pearls have been threaded into a 3 strand necklace.
They have a pretty clasp but it fails to sparkle because they need a thorough clean!
The back of the clasp is stamped 93.5
If they are to be worn they will need rethreading but I’m just interested in who would have used them.

      Hi, Elainep. :-)

That 93.5 marking sent me down a minor rabbit hole.

At first, I was sidelined into something called Argentium:

      https://stoneysilver.com/collections/argentium

      https://www.argentiumsilver.com/brand-and-tm-licence-registration

      https://patents.google.com/patent/US6168071B1/en

      https://uspto.report/TM/77565134

However, being that Argentium is a relatively modern substance, I don't think that's what we're looking at here.

This forum about flatware is the closest I could get:

      *snip*

935 contains 93.5 percent silver 935 parts per 1000 silver, found on old world sterling

      *snip*

      https://spoonplanet.com/silvermarkings.html

So 93.5 is probably just an Old World variety of sterling.

As to whether this necklace was designed for a child or an adult, I tend to think the latter.

To me, it borders on madness to design an unknotted pearl necklace for a child.

      How long is this necklace?

Just for the heck of it, because all that decimal talk activated the portable media player in my brain pan:

      KEITH (98.6) 2023 Remaster

Here's KEITH with (98.6). Reached #7 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1967.

To PhilDMorris for the comment, I was busy looking at the pearls, didn’t notice the deco aspect ! Thanks so much.
keramikos - wow thank you so much for your determined investigation I appreciate it so much.
I thought I had misread the 93.5 - I’d only gotten as far as discovering something called Britannia Plate . I’ll try to post a link.
The necklace, when measured as worn is 18cm from clasp to middle of rope.
Decimal talk - eek ! I still convert from metric to imperial and decimal currency to £sd - bonkers.
I’m just about to listen to your YouTube clip.
Thanks so much for brightening my day as well as teaching me something’s new.
I’ve purchased several strings of pearls lately in an effort to understand how to identify them for myself, of those I’ve purchased this is the only necklace that I can be sure is genuine pearl following the ‘scratch on teeth’ test!

      Elainep, You're welcome. :-)

So the necklace is about 36cm in length overall. That's pretty short. This guide shows 41cm as a necklace that would sit at the base of the neck of the average adult woman:

      https://www.rafael-jewelry.com/necklace-size-guide/

Perhaps it was indeed designed as a necklace for a child.

I'm a bit discouraged to hear that you convert from metric to imperial, etc.

I've long had a theory that if the USA would just suck it up and go fully metric, I'd get used to it and start thinking in metric.

Perhaps I'd just always be like the narrator of Nabokov's "Lolita" who had to convert from the meaningless (to him) fahrenheit to the intimate centigrade of his youth. :-(

That song "98.6" is just a harmless bit of 1960s fluff recorded by a one-hit wonder. It's possibly more notable for its composer and lyricist who wrote other tunes for other performers.
