While making our recent trip to Council Bluffs, a very long 17hr drive, we stopped at a friends place in Nebraska and found this beautiful Gill Ripple Body Globe advertising Dixie Gas and Oil. Obviously I couldn’t resist so it found its way on to the back seat of the truck and finally on the wall of the new Lakeside Museum and Event Center in Provo. Dixie Oil was a subsidiary of Standard Oil in the 1920s when it was started. I’m not sure when these graphics were first introduced? They obviously don’t match the more famous Red, whie and Blue Dixie sign graphics we have on the Dixie sign. I think the Sign Graphics are from the 1940s or 50s, but not sure. Either way the globe is a cute new addition.
Nice find :o
