Hi everyone!!
Here’s something different. It’s an antique cast iron fish bowl holder in the form of dancing frogs. I love the design of this one, especially the white top hats. It still retains most of its original paint, which is fairly rare to see on these. There are a few later versions of this that are colored completely gold or green and red with black collars and black top hats. I happen to have a couple of the later gold colored versions, in addition to this one. But, this one is the oldest example I’ve ever seen and I’ve yet to see another painted identically to this one. Also, the later versions have threaded holes that the screws thread into. This one utilizes screws and square nuts, commonly used in the 1800’s. In research, I’ve found that this dates back to the late 1800’s. There are some who seem to think this is a magazine rack or letter holder, but it’s definitely a fish bowl holder. It measures 7 7/8” tall, 9 1/4” wide and 7 1/4” deep.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!!

Very unique & fantastic! The dancing frogs are adorable and would be perfectly compatible to the motion of fish in the bowl, very innovative piece Scott
Love it, would make a good book holder also !~
I've not seen anything like it before! It's useful and beautiful!
Jenni,
Thanks so much!! I do love unique items and this just caught my eye instantly.
Phil,
Thanks very much!! I've seen several folks use these as book holders.
DejaVu,
Thank you very much!! I hadn't seen anything like it until a couple of years ago. I'd been wanting one ever since then, but most I've ever seen were priced far out of my collecting budget. I got a really great deal on this one.
