    Can anyone tell me anything about this? The top comes off and has a little powder puff sponge but the bottom has some kind off swivel dial on it with numbers on it. is it too refill the powder? Any help is appreciated any ideas on the year range.? Thank you

      Those numbers on the bottom are big clues, because they're USPTO patent numbers.

      I had trouble reading all of the digits, but hit paydirt on the second one:

      https://patents.google.com/patent/US1737294A/en

      So, yes, a powder receptacle circa the 1920s.

      Here's the previous application:

      If you can provide a better picture of the patents, or decipher them yourself, we'll probably get more insight into this item.

      I was hoping to be able to decipher/find that newest patent on the top of the list, but no joy thus far (so OK, I got side-tracked by an intriguing old VSM post).

      At any rate, that second newest patent does give quite a bit of detail about the powder receptable, and it's no ordinary container.
