Cute roadrunner..its funny that lots of people think these birds are large after seeing the cartoons. They are less than a foot tall in reality.

And thank you for your fabulous comments

Dave you're right, we always associate these birds with the cartoons where they look bigger

Scott, I was really glad to find this roadrunner design, it's very unusual which you know I like!

Phil I searched for a roadrunner brooch specifically for you as you had mentioned you had one you loved, & am so delighted you liked it

DejaVu I love the iridescent enamel wing too, that and the fluffed up head make such a cute roadrunner. UltraCraft is a newly found co for me, I'll have to check out their other items

Lol Vynil, somewhere Wile E Coyote is most certainly howling at this guy!

      Newfld, Cute. :-)

As to the size of real roadrunners: they can get big, at least length-wise, because a school library I used to visit had a stuffed one in a display box, and I swear that critter had to be a yard long from the tip of its beak to the end of its tail. >8-0

Apparently, two feet long is more typical:

Very cool creature to use as a brooch Jenny! I've never seen a roadrunner brooch before and I love the pose of him!
He's great, I adore his pose, it's so speedy and really looks like he's galloping across the desert. I especially love his high kicking legs! XD
We're getting a bit of a Warner Bros theme with the roadrunner too aren't we?

      Newfld, You're welcome. :-)

I see roadrunners locally, and it inspired me to research them a bit. It's a relatively successful species, because they've been spotted as far east as the Mississippi River.

They don't always win their battles with other species, but they can outsmart, paralyze, and eat rattlesnakes.

They can make you believe the dinosaur <-> bird connection.

Thanks Lauren & MishMasher for the love it's always super appreciated

Lol Lauren, I must have cartoons on the brain this week! I thought this roadrunner was a really different & unusual animal, he is rather speedy (beep beep!) and cool. Thanks so much for your terrific comment

Thanks again keramikos for more about the roadrunner it's really an awesome animal and they do have a kind of prehistoric design, wonderful info appreciate it :)
