      The J. Wiss & Sons Co. website has a lot of catalogs, and I found mention of the 8-BLT model in catalogs from 1963 and 1969:

      For instance, there is a pair of belt shears at the bottom of page 17 of the 1950 catalog, but it doesn't mention a model number:
