This was a super find on eBay AU!
The vase has a hexagonal form but it isn't a Welz hexagon vase. Welz hexagon vases have the hexagon shape on both top & base, as well as in the main body. As can be seen here, this vase only shows a hexagonal form in the middle - both top & footed base are circular.
What I especially like about it is that it is a smaller counterpart to another vase of the same form in a larger size & different spatter.
This vase measures 12.5 cm tall, 5 cm across the top rim, & 5 cm across the base. It has a mostly lemon - yellow spatter with touches of red & blue. The spatter is uncased, so a slight texture can be felt. The inner layer is clear.
The yellow spatter contains cadmium & glows bright orange under UV light as seen in the last photo (note also a touch of uranium as well).
The taller red vase which has been in my collection for many years measures 15.5 cm tall for comparison.
Czech origin, 1920s - 1930s. Possibly by Kralik.
Hello Marin, lovely find and it is Kralik. I have a blue/pink Kralik one posted here in a more well known décor. Though the red décor is very familiar and would have ID'd it on shape. Great finds you're having probably and comes more from good searching than luck!
Hi Peggy, so great to hear from you & glad you like the vase! After I bought it I looked back on your posts because I recalled that you have a vase of this form (I really like the blue/pink decor, too).
As for my finds, I'm just always searching, it's all the thrills I need! :-)
There is almost always something interesting popping up every day. At the moment I'm watching a few more cool items & who knows, I might be able to make them mine...
Beautiful spatter glass vase!!!
Thanks also, Scott!
