    (31 items)

Three beautiful prints by the Belgian artist Marcel Notebaert who always signed his work with Noteb.

1 – Stations of the Cross (Pilate).
Dimensions are 24x31cm. Made around 1956 as a design for a large work in the Sint-Eloois Church in Sint-Eloois-Winkel, Belgium.
2 – Triptych of Love's Life III (the family) 1st version.
Dimensions are 24x31cm. Made around 1949.
    3 – Composition (Sagittarians).
    Dimensions are 30.5x38cm..

All three are signed Noteb in the print and provided with a hand signature Noteb in blue pencil, numbered 89/150 and also the title of the works.

Marcel Notebaert studied at the Sint-Amands college in Kortrijk, took lessons at the Kortrijk academy and then studied decorative arts at the Academy of Ghent. He received the Grand Prize of Rome in 1949 and the international Hallmark Art Award in 1952. He worked as head of design at the carpet weaving mills De Poortere in Aalbeke and at Prado in Kortrijk. He carried out various assignments for the Belgian state and enjoyed international recognition. In 1947 he had already founded the 'Study Center for Textile Drawing' together with Minister Dequa and in 1951 he became co-founder of the 'Christelijk Vlaams Kunstenaarsverbond' and was editorial director of the art magazine 'Flanders'.

He designed decorative panels for the Palace of Justice and the university in Kortrijk. He painted the Stations of the Cross and three other works in the parish church of St-Eloois-Winkel.

Since Notebaert won the Rome Prize in 1949 with Triptych of Minneleven, his career took off. Was, among other things, a member of the Jeune Peinture Belge.

He was one of the most important artists of his time in the 1950s and 1960s. This versatile artist made designs for the carpet industry, for the parade 'Luister der Nederlandse Taal', which passed through the city center of Kortrijk in 1960 and 1962, and for Theater Antigone. In 1972 he created a colorful wall scene in the hall of the K.U.L.A.K. campus Kortrijk. He also designed statues for, among others, the Sint Rita Church in Harelbeke.
