Hello I’ve just rediscovered this antique vase, can’t remember what these are call but found it over 10 years ago, I don’t know why it looks like it does, maybe someone else knows , thinking it’s called cased glass for some reason
Satin or air trap glass, quite old there is a page on 20th Century Glass about it

Thanks I will have a look but now you said satin that rings a bell and I’m thinking satin cased or cased satin sounds familiar, I will check
What's with the gold paint, looks to me like it's trying to cover up damage. I've encountered plenty of this type of glass over the years & none of it's been painted amateurishly like this piece.
I think it was damaged and they put some thing on it to hold the piece together, maybe a temporary measure? Definitely needs expert repair
