I bought a number of what I think maybe authentic Native American baskets at an estate sale that also had Navajo weavings. I do not know really anything about how to determine if these are actually Native American but this particular one reminds of the shape often call wedding or gathering baskets think by Navajo weavers but has human figures and think arrows. Overall the baskets looks a bit used or not as well made as other authentic Navajo baskets I've seen. The bottom of the basket is a big "sloppy" but again maybe from use. In any case thoughts and information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.
Not Navajo or Native American. It's African, made by the Hausa of Nigeria. One of the most-common designs made by the Hausa, there are currently more than 54 listed on eBay, often incorrectly identified as Native American.
