Hey there, I recently found this and another old framed poster at an auction in a lot of other household stuff & 1800's paper ephemra. (https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/321324-possible-antique-1800s-slavery-poster) That being said I'm normally pretty good about being able to judge the age of stuff, but I know that there are commonly faked, but not 100% sure on this & could use some help if possible if anything that's more familiar with old posters & signs can offer help?
- It has been cut down at some point & the current size is approx. 10" by 8-1/2" wide. It is a rough cut and not smooth as it cuts into the lettering in spots.
- It is made of a thin paper that feels like parchment or thin construction paper.
- It does have tears & rips on it in multiple spots.
- It has some foxing, staining, dirt, small spots of mold on the rear, so it does have some significant age on it.
Also, does anyone know experience with further authenticating something like this?
There's so many of these fake posters and other Wells Fargo stuff in the market.
One quick test .hit it with a black light to see if it's modern white paper. White paper made post-1950 contains fluorescent chemicals while older paper doesn't.

Hello Dav2no1, Thanks for the link, but I did see that & read through it already. That's how I was able to check the few things already. That being said, this print did pass the backlight test. Thankfully, I have plenty of pre & post 1950 paper to check with. As for the size, I know that is off, but I can tell that someone in the past had cut this down in order to fit in in this fame at some point in time, so I'm not sure if the original size would've matched.
Do you happen to know where I would be able to go to see about further authenticating this piece?
