Do not know the mark, but these plates were beautifully painted, and at .50 cents apiece they were definitely coming home with me! I would suppose mid 20th century would be a reasonable guess, maybe earlier? Not sure if they would be imari or some other style. As always, any information would be appreciated very much!

beneeth the rising sun reads, Nippon, meaning Japan. vertical written kanji read Toku SEI "Japan Special Make or particulary made in Japan

this is SHOWA 1 and not SHOWA 2= late interbellum something like 1927-1939

      So it's a decal/transfer?
    4. apostata apostata, 7 months ago
Yep, grosso modo there is no logico in a painted reverse and an decal observe and vica versa
      strips or stickers
      you also got stencil ware
spraying the so called precursor of it ( the famous moonhares already know late Ming period)

painting is always FROTTE , different density in the lining ,dotting enamel stroking etc

and painting or enamaling is most of the time OUTSIDE -IN first the surrounding and then the inner part
