In the late 1950’s, Atlas Products, known mostly for their excellent “Snap-Track”, plastic bridges, and other trackage components, came up with a novel concept. They took the Athearn “Hustler” chassis, put a larger, higher rpm motor on it, and came up with this “Turbo Racer”. It was driven strictly by the propeller, which was on the driveshaft, that stuck out through a slot in the back.
I also have one that is new in the original box, as shown.
Don’t think they were much of a hit. I’ve never run one, to see how well it actually worked, but I don’t imagine they were a success.
Interesting model! so they have wheels to run on HO train tracks?
