An actual menu given to the passengers aboard the R.M.S "Mauretania" on Sunday June 19, 1960. On the back, is a description of what's on the front cover. It reads:
The needlepoint carpet made by Her Majesty Queen Mary. The carpet measures 10 feet by 2 inches by 6 feet 9.5 inches and contains about a million stitches. Queen Mary worked on the carpet for eight years and on its completion in Feb 1950 presented it to the nation as a contribution to Britains dollar export drive. The carpet was shipped across the Atlantic in R.M.S "Queen Mary" in March 1950 and was subsequently exhibited in the US and Canada. In July 1950 it was purchased by the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire, Canada and in Oct 1951 was presented on their behalf by Her Majesty the Queen ( then Princess Elizabeth) to the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa where it's now on permanent display.
