The cups in this set are about 1.75" high x 2.25" in diameter and not marked. They did come in a tomobako, though. Quite a heavy set of cups at 1.5 lbs. The large writing on the lid says "Goshiki Shino". No translation for the smaller writing. One interpretation that I found for goshiki is "five colored" which fits this set.

This is the result of a penny auction on ebay Japan. I am pretty financially challenged right now, but bid low on a couple of things just for the fun of it. I won this for $12.50 and free shipping from Tokyo, Japan. I was freaked out. The seller was freaked out. The seller actually cautioned me (after shipping it) that their packing might be questionable due to the lower than expected auction price. I was expecting to receive a box of pottery chips but all the cups and tomobako survived intact.

To get the cups to fit into the tomobako so that the lid closes, the outside cups both need to face bottom out. The dividers are loose, thin pieces of wood.

So some stuff I don't need and wasn't expecting at practically no cost. Very nice cups, especially the yellow one, a color I seldom see in Shino ware. Five cups of mixed colors is a pretty common theme in Japanese pottery. I have a few examples.

I only bid on one other thing in August and I was quite happy to get that for $3.99 and tax. Will post it by and by.
