1936-1941 GOMZ Sport ( Cnopm)

Now that I have opened this can, let's venture down the rabbit hole, shall we...

There were two prototypes of 35 mm SLR's being built from 1933-1935 with the results of the first ever two being built for production which started in 1936. (Not in order) GOMZ Sport of Leningrad, Soviet Union and Ihagee Kine Exacta of Dresden, Germany. It's unclear which owns the title of first.

Here I have an example of the Russian 'Sport' camera produced by the Soviet camera factory Gosudarstvenny Optiko-Mekhanicheskii Zavod of Leningrad or GOMZ for short. Produced from 1936-1941 based off the Gelvetta prototype of 1933 or 34. As all Sports it comes equipped with a waist level optical viewfinder, a unique vertically traveling guillotine style focal plane shutter, and a bayonet lens mount to which no other lenses were made.
