IMO, the contents aren't all that fascinating. They seem to be crochet cotton thread balls, along with some crocheted cotton pieces.
I suspect that the case had been repurposed at some point, much as I might have done had I found in the the family attic, but then I did a lot of crocheting when I was younger. };-)
Google Lens turned up a lot of siblings and cousins, variously described as hatboxes, train cases, doll suitcases, etc.
There was one that Google Lens turned up on my phone that had an actual maker's name stamped into the leather binding. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it again. When will I learn to email difficult finds like that to myself? :-(
Various vendors describe their siblings and cousins as being of 1920s vintage, so there's that. Dunno how that information fits with what you know about yours.

Worcestor T&S Co. apparently is the Worcestor Tool & Stamp Company, long gone and even the company recycled.
I don't know if this relates to your case at all, because on closer examination, the binding on yours seems to be some kind of cloth. :-(
