This is a huge Megalodon tooth That I found while on vacation in North Carolina. .... Naa, that's not true, I purchased it from a man in North Carolina while on vacation...... but I do believe it was discovered in North Carolina.....
Anyway, this tooth comes from the largest shark that ever existed. It roamed the seas around the eastern seaboard about 15 million years ago and the size of this monster was about the size of a Greyhound Bus. they ate whales for lunch.
The tooth measures about 3 1/2" wide and 4 3/4" long on each side.
This fossilized megalodon tooth is not the largest to be found, but it does rank up there with the big dogs. It is thought that each inch of tooth length is equal to 10 meters in length.
Some teeth were found to be 6" in length, that's a whopping 60 meters of eating machine.
