    1950s Brass Master Lock Padlock
Master Lock : Master "Champ" no 1500
    1951-53 2nd generation
    Material: Brass

Funny how things go sometimes. I was digging through some of dad's old paperwork and found this combo card for a Master Lock. This padlock has been hanging in the workshop for as long as I remember. What I didn't know was..its Brass and 1950s.

    I found this information online:
    "NO. 1500
    Original
    1935-1951
    Brass case
Brass dial with drawing of a Hurdler & inscription 'Champ"

    2nd Generation
    1951-1953
    Brass Case
    Brass dial with inscription "Master"

    3rd generation
    1953-1972
    Stainless steel case
    Steel knob with inscription "Master"

    4th generation
    1972 - present
    Stainless steel case
Black die cast knob with inscription "Master" During the first 10 years of the 21st century some dials were fabricated of plastic with the inscription "Master"

    NO. 100
    1935-1941
    Nickel-silver plated steel case
Nickel-silver plated steel knob with drawing of Hurdler & inscription "Champ"
Discontinued due to shortage of plating chemicals created by the war effort during WWII

According to another document the models 210 and 217 were produced in the 'late 1930's' and discontinued."

Good bit of research you did on it, way to go!

So many people just look online for something that looks like theirs and copy what the seller is claiming, which so very often is incorrect info that the seller just copied from someone else with incorrect info.

      dav2no1, Way cool.

I didn't realize that they'd ever been made of brass.

John2..I love the history and stories attached to objects. Often the history or story makes the piece. I try to add as much information as I can..

One of my write ups on animal traps got the attention of archeologists in Canada and they contacted me to get permission to use it. They were looking for background/history and realized I already wrote it!

Here's one you might like..2 parter from a simple bottle opener..opened up pandoras box on this one..with help from my friend Kera of course.

      dav2no1, D'oh!

Now that you mention it, it does sound familiar.
