Milwaukee Arc Light & Power Company, Electrician's badge.
Milwaukee Arc Light & Power Company was granted a franchise to electrify and maintain Milwaukee City street lights and traffic signals by ordinance on April 11, 1890. The lights specified were arc lights of 2000 candle power each. These badges granted full city authority to work on private properties as required by job specifications. The Milwaukee Arc Light & Power Company was sold to the Milwaukee Power and Light Company in 1891 which caused the franchise to be revoked July 20, 1891. The fifteen month life span makes this badge potentially rare. The badge is a six pointed star with a nickel finish, 52 x 59.6 mm, pin back, no maker's mark. I have only seen this one in over fifty years of collecting.
