For my first post of 2025, here is something special to start the year off in style!
I am thrilled to welcome a third example of Thomas Webb cameo glass to my collection. This one turned up on eBay AU & the bidding was competitive, though I managed to get this for a modest sum at the last second.
Made from a single layer of pale yellow glass, it has a uranium content & glows bright green under UV light. The seller hadn't mentioned this, but as I have another vase of the same shade, I was pretty sure this one would light up.
There is cameo decoration in white, of clematis flowers & a butterfly on the reverse.
It measures 15 cm tall, 3.5 cm across the base, & 1.7 cm across the top.
In excellent condition for its age.
Made in England circa 1880s by Thomas Webb & Sons.
IronLace! So beautiful!!! Clematis flowers...
( I have made an offer for a 13th piece of Beyermann&Company! It ends this evening. It´s in Malmö, close to me! )
Hope for a nice glass discovering year 2025!
Many thanks, Marie!
Hope you can get your lucky thirteenth piece - best of luck, & wishing you a Happy New Year!
Marin.
Beautiful cameo vase & even more so when illuminated. Congrats on the win!
Much appreciated, Jenni!
Goodness, this is BEAUTIFUL!!!
Beautiful vase and I wouldn't have thought to check this colour of glass for uranium, another piece of information to stick in the memory box, thanks Marin.
Many thanks, Scott!
Thanks also, Bernard!
