This is a Satsuma style vase with a fluted top and bottom. The one side depicts a court-yard scene and the other depicts a battle. It is marked with the Japanese characters that simply translate to "Satsuma" -Not sure if this is a fairly modern creation or Meiji period. It is decently filled with details and the enamel work is well done, but the shape is what I like most about this piece.
Not sure if this is a fairly modern creation or Meiji period ??
remarkable point of view, , yes it is looks a very silly question, but the chinese are dodging the follow up of the Tariff Act , the so called Royal Satsuma,s and Zhongguo To Ci Jin Pin and transform into Japanese , the so called rogues , but almost always for the more expensive stuff
well that,s , answers the stylizing, see the site Gotheborg com chinese porcelain ( don,t use this for research because the site is not so meticulous )
well forget the KANJI which is right but completely immaterial
what is this is it a decal and pigment spraying or partly application of this , or is it stroke -brushing dots ( so called frotte)(, do the( math)_
the reverse
are ther are the crackles flooded =drenched or transparant do the math
the bottom is it agglutination -detritus -or sedimentation --- well clean it
the standring ( =outer rim ) the inner curvilineair part of the rim is LESS exposed than the part the vase is resting on so the FERRO MINERALS if present are more exposed to oxygin and more oranje
IMO this is something about 1980- till yesterday and japanese , don,t worry we get there ,everybody start this way but you have to asked the right questions,
cute vase
Waki
addendum different exposure at the outer versus the sloping the curvilineariteit exposes the sedimentation , there is indication no indication of different ferrosedinmentation !
Thanks Apostata! I certainly see the transferware lines and coloring that was added after. I picked this up for around $25, so certainly a nice little item for the price, and I do like the shape and design. I'll add pictures of another couple vases that I have that I don't know much about. It is something I am studying up on and learning as I go without spending too much. The knowledge you share is greatly appreciated.
