Here is a super piece of Art Nouveau glass found on eBay AU! It had a lot of watchers but lucky me was the only bidder - happy days!
The vase is made from two layers of cased glass, with a clear exterior over a milky opalescent interior. There is fine pulled loop decoration in autumnal tones with an iridescent finish.
It measures 26.5 cm tall, 4.4 cm across the top rim, & 6.5 cm across the base.
Bohemian origin circa 1900.
Sold as Loetz or Kralik but my gut feeling is Rindskopf.
Stunning vase!! Excellent eBay find!!
Many thanks, Scott!
This is another example of the "silver lining" I found in the uncertain days of 2020 - deciding to shop more locally than internationally. For almost 5 years now, I've found many more great finds from local Australian sellers. Very rarely do I buy internationally, due to the massive inflation on postage costs, plus slow delivery times, & poor exchange rates. Before 2020, I bought the majority of my online items from overseas because it wasn't so expensive then, & even more because I hadn't fully investigated what was available online here, just assuming overseas would be better.
Overall, though, I would recommend taking the silver lining approach to all things, as adversity can make one aware of fresh possibilities!
I always have an instinct of Rindskopf on these too but have never seen it unequivocally attributed. I own a few examples of this feathered (or looped) decor with various grounds, but I am never sure about the opalescent ones. Hopefully someone else might confirm????
Much appreciated, Wow22!
Yes, it would be good to know comprehensively on these. The pulled loop or feather reminds me a lot of one on another known Rindskopf vase I have (different colour ground though). To me the shape is also another strike against a Kralik attribution. It leans more towards the Rindskopf aesthetic in my opinion...
