Hello everyone!!
I recently bought this cast iron Dachshund. It was once a door scraper, but evidently the door scraper blade had rusted away and worn down. So, the owner, from long ago, ground off the door scraper blade and repurposed this Dachshund into a doorstop. They did a very nice job of grinding the door scraper blade off as they left little evidence that it was ever a door scraper. Unlike most Dachshund doorscrapers, that are a two piece design, this one is solid cast iron. It's a very smooth casting and and quite heavy. It's from the early 1900's and quite possibly the late 1800's. It measures 22" long and weighs 26lbs!!
Thanks very much for taking time to stop in for a look!!

That's a looooong weiner dog! One of my favorite breeds. They have lots of character and are loyal to their owners. Nice piece!
DejaVu,
Thanks very much!! Yes, he's a long one for sure. We've had four Dachshunds over the past 31 years. We currently have a 7 year old chocolate/tan longhair female Dachshund named Carly. We've had her since she was 9 weeks old. She's spoiled rotten and well loved. But that's what they're for:)

Jenni,
Thanks!! The tongue out version of these cast iron Dachshunds are the most sought after by collectors.
